St Mary's Badminton Club

Welcome to St Mary's Badminton Club!

St Mary's Badminton Club is the friendliest & one of the most succesful badminton clubs in West Berkshire. With clubnights held at Kennet Leisure Centre, our sociable club is conveniently located for anyone living near Thatcham, Newbury, Aldermaston, Theale, west Reading or Basingstoke.

On Saturdays we run a junior coaching session from 10:30am until noon led by our fully Badminton England qualified coach.

Mondays is our adult club-night with a range of abilities taking part including some of our county players. Need a bit of help? - Our friendly coaches are always on hand to offer tips and guidance.

Thursdays are our home match nights. See below for details on the ranges of teams we enter in the local leagues.

Club nights

Clubnights take place at Kennet Leisure Centre every Monday evening from 8pm-10pm so come along and try it. You can play as a guest up to 5 times as a guest (on a pay/evening basis) and can then choose to join on an Annual or Half-season basis.

Match Nights

Home matches are played on a different night to club so court space is not adversely impacted. We play matches at Elstree School, which boasts great facilities, and ask teams to arrive by 19:50 to ensure a prompt start.

Teams

We have 2 Mixed teams, 2 Mens teams and 2 Ladies teams that play in the Newbury & District Badminton Leagues (NDBA).

In addition, we compete in the Blackford Cup and we also have a Mixed team in the Basingstoke Badminton Leagues (division 1).

One of the area's most successful clubs, we are currently the Men's Champions and Mixed Champions of the Newbury leagues and Champions of the Basingstoke Mixed leagues.

Junior Club & Coaching

The Saints Junior Club is committed to the development of young people's physical and mental skills. A friendly & safe environment that allows players to enjoy the game and develop at their own pace un-pressurised.

Specific skills practice and coaching sessions are used to help further their control and many of our juniors have gone on to represent the county. Once players have advanced sufficiently they are invited to the St Mary's Badminton Club senior member sessions.

Junior coaching sessions run term-time on Saturday mornings from 10.30am to noon.
